The polynomial \(2x^{3} + x^{2} - 3x + p\) has a remainder of 20 when divided by (x - 2). Find the value of constant p.

  • A. 8
  • B. 6
  • C. -6
  • D. -8

Correct Answer: B. 6

Explanation

Remainder for f(2) = 20.

\(f(2) = 2(2^{3}) + 2^{2} - 3(2) + p = 20\)

\(16 + 4 - 6 + p = 20\)

\(14 + p = 20\)

\(p = 6\)
