The gradient ofy= 3x\(^2\) + 11x + 7 at P(x.y) is -1. Find the coordinates of P.

  • A. (-3, -2)
  • B. (-2,-3)
  • C. (-2,3)
  • D. ( 2,3)

Correct Answer: B. (-2,-3)

Explanation

y= 3x\(^2\) + 11x +7;

dy/dx = 6x + 11= -1;

6x = -12;

x=-2

y= 3x\(^2\) + 11x + 7

At x-2,

y= 3(-2)\(^2\) +11(-2) + 7

= 12 - 22 + 7= -3

p(x, y) = (-2,-3)
