Reforms of Jahiliyya in the Islam Period

Islam, the last divine religion and mercy to mankind bought reform on the following Jahiliyya practices.

1. Polytheism: Jahiliyya Arabs were changed from polytheist to monotheist believe in Allah the only one God, worthy of man's worship, replaced idol worship and the worship of man by man. The kalimatu shahada bought unity of ideology and brotherhood among the Arabs.

2. In human treatment of women: Islam stopped in human treatment of women by a. Prohibiting burying female daughters alive.

b. Inheritance of stepmothers.

c. Islam raised the status of women by making it compulsory for them to get inheritance and dowry.

d. Giving them similar rights to those of men in marrying union.

3. Social Corruption: Islam prohibited all forms of social corruption. The Arab indulgence in alcoholism, adultery and gambling where checked by the Islamic prohibition which make them unlawful.

4. Al ' ald (Justice) : Islamic replaced injustice with justice (Al-ald) and prohibited cheating and maltreatment of orphans.

5. Tribalism: Islam brought unity to the Arabs. The prophet forbade tribalism by his saying there is no superiority of an Arab over a non Arab and their is no superiority of a non Arab over an Arab. You are all from Adam and Adam was created from day;
