(a)(i) An example of light industry is any of the following. Matches, Paper mills, Furniture, Printing,etc.

(ii) An example of heavy industry include: Iron and Steel, Ship building, Petro-Chemical

(b) Four Characteristics of Light Industry:

(i) It can be located anywhere

(ii) It is labour intensive

(iii) It produces light products

(iv) It employs mostly female labour force

(ii) Heavy industry:

(a) Usually located near raw material or market

(b) It requires heavy machines

(c) It requires skilled labour

(d) It also requires large capital outlay.

(c) Three factors which aided the location of one of the industries include:

(i) Raw materials

(ii) Market

(iii) Transportation; others include labour supply, power supply, availability of capital etc.
