State two effects to show (a) the existence of matter waves;

(b) that radiation behaves like particles.

Explanation

a) Effects to show the existence of matter waves:

- diffraction of electrons

— diffraction on neutron from crystal surface

— diffraction pattern by reflecting hydrogen and helium molecules from crystal surface.

(b) Effects to show that radiation behaves like waves:

— compton effect

— photoelectric effect

— black body radiation

— emission/absorption spectra

— quantization of radiation energy proposed by Planck.
