Solve \(\frac{y+2}{4}\) - \(\frac{y-1}{3}\) > 1

  • A. y < -10
  • B. y < -2
  • C. y < 2
  • D. y < 10

Correct Answer: B. y < -2

Explanation

multiply both sides by the LCM

12 x \(\frac{y+2}{4}\) - 12 x \(\frac{y-1}{3}\) >12 x 1

3[y+2] - 4[y-1] > 12

3y + 6 - 4y + 4 > 12

-y + 2 > 12

-y > 12 - 10 = 2

y < -2
