If \(8^{x+1}=\frac{1}{4}\), find x

  • A. \(-\frac{5}{3}\)
  • B. -1
  • C. \(-\frac{1}{3}\)
  • D. \(\frac{1}{3}\)

Correct Answer: A. \(-\frac{5}{3}\)

Explanation

\(8^{x+1}=\frac{1}{4}\\

2^{3(x+1)}=2^{-2}\Rightarrow 3(x+1)=-2\Rightarrow 3x+3=-2\\

3x=-5\Rightarrow x=-\frac{5}{3}\)
