Given that (2x + 7) is a factor of \(2x^2 + 3x - 14\), find the other factor

  • A. x + 2
  • B. 2 - x
  • C. x - 2
  • D. x + 1

Correct Answer: C. x - 2

Explanation

\(2x^2 + 3x - 14\)

\(2x^2 + 7x - 4x - 14\)

\(x(2x + 7) - 2(2x + 7)\)

= \((x - 2)(2x + 7)\)

The other factor = (x - 2).
