Given that \(\frac{6x-y}{x+2y}=2\), find the value of \(\frac{x}{y}\)

  • A. \(\frac{3}{8}\)
  • B. \(\frac{5}{8}\)
  • C. \(\frac{4}{5}\)
  • D. \(\frac{5}{4}\)

Correct Answer: D. \(\frac{5}{4}\)

Explanation

\(\frac{6x-y}{x+2y}=2\)

→ \((6x-y) = (x+2y)2\)

= 6x - y = 2x + 4y

Collect like terms: 6x - 2x = 4y + y

→ 4x = 5y

\(\frac{x}{y} = \frac{5}{4}\)
