In what ways do member States of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) co-operate with one another?

Explanation

(i) Peaceful settlement of disputes by negotiation, mediation, conciliation and arbitration e.g. boarder disputes.

(ii) Unreserved condemnation in all forms of political assassination as well as of subversive activities on the part of neighbouring states or any other states.

(iii) Economic co-operation including joint projects on transport and communication through agencies like ADS, ECA, ECOWAS, etc.

(iv) Educational, sports and cultural co-operation e.g. FESTAC, African Nations Cup.

(v) Health, sanitation and nutritional co-operation.

(vi) Scientific and technical co-operation e.g. Technical Aid Scheme by Nigeria.

(vii) Respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of each state.

(viii) Eradication of all forms of colonialism from the continent of Africa.

(ix) Taking collective decisions at international bodies like the U.N.O.

(x) Provision of military aid and support for countries in need e.g. Congo Democratic Republic.
