Explain the various ways in which Nigeria gives support to liberation movements in Africa.

Explanation

Various ways in which Nigeria gives support to liberation movements in Africa include:

(i) Nigeria used organisations like, U.N.O, OAU, the Commonwealth etc to give diplomatic and moral support to the liberation movements.

(ii) Some of the liberation movements, e.g. MPLA of Angola, ANC of South Africa etc received financial assistance from Nigeria. (iii) Assistance was also given in form of propaganda.

(iv) Liberation movements received material aids like clothings, medicine, food etc.

(v) It equally supported by giving training and awarding scholarships to areas under colonial rule.

(vi) Nigeria supported the trade boycott and economic sanction clamped on the apartheid South Africa.

(vii) The South Africa relief fund was initiated by Nigeria in 1976.

(viii) Regular contributions were made to the OAU special fund for the liberation committee.
