What is party manifesto and why is it necessary?

Explanation

Party manifesto is the aim and objective or the cardinal programme of a political party. This programme is what the party hopes to implement if voted into power.

Reasons why party manifesto is necessary are:

(i) party manifesto sheds light on how a party plans to achieve success in the execution of its programme when it gets into power.

(ii) The ideological direction of the party is known.

(iii) Party manifesto helps in giving direction to a party's programme.

(iv) It helps in educating the people.

(v) It is seen as a magnetic pull, in the sense that more people are attracted to the party.

(vi) Party manifesto creates a better insight into the programme of the party. The aims and objectives of a party are clearly known by the electorates.

(vii) The electorate has the opportunity of assessing parties based the manifesto.
