(a) Meaning of mobility of labour: Mobility of labour is the ease with which labour can move from one place to another or from one occupation to another.

(b) Factors influencing the supply of labour:

(i) The size of the population

(ii) Age distribution of the population. where a large number of people fall within the working age group the supply of labour will be high.

(iii) Working hours: The longer the working day, the greater the supply of labour.

(iv) Certain beliefs/practices: For example in some societies women may not be allowed to offer themselves for paid employment, hence supply of labour will be low

(v) Level of wages: The higher the wages the more the people will offer themselves for employment.

(vi) Official retirement age: The higher the retirement age, the greater the supply of labour.

(vii) Number of public holidays: The more of public holidays the lower the supply of labour.

(viii) Regularity and punctuality at work will also affect supply of labour.

(ix) Migration. Immigration will increase and emigration will decrease the supply of labour
