The angle of elevation of the top of a tower from a point on the horizontal ground, 40m away from the foot of the tower is 30°. Find the height of the tower.

  • A. 20m
  • B. 40√3m /3
  • C. 20√3m
  • D. 40√3m

Correct Answer: B. 40√3m /3

Explanation

\(\tan 30 = \frac{x}{40}\)

\(x = 40 \tan 30 = \frac{40}{\sqrt{3}}\)

= \(\frac{40\sqrt{3}}{3} m\)
