Explanation

(a) Planning is the setting up of targets or objective and outlining the appropriate means of achieving it. It is the process of establishing objectives for the organisation and trying to determine the best ways to accomplish them.

(b) Advantages of delegation of authority are:

(i) The work load of the supervisors will be reduced.

(ii) Delegation of authority saves a lot of time as certain duties can be delegated to the subordinates.

(iii) It makes for speed in the performance of duty.

(iv) Delegation of authority helps to train the subordinates to whom this authority is delegated to do certain jobs.

(v) Delegation of authority reduces the work load of the superior officers.
